Lubricants Storage

At CMS Logistics, protecting product package identification and labeling is the first step in good storage and handling procedures. This is crucial for the health and safety of plant employees as well as for preventing environmental pollution. Good storage and handling techniques should also include the following:

  • Establishing lubricant handling and storage standards for when containers are brought in and taken out on-site.
  • New products and used oil containers are separated
  • Separate pumps, hoses, and transfer containers are used for each product family.
  • Rotating products according to “first-in, first-out” (FIFO)
  • Lubricants that have reached the end of their shelf life should be disposed of right away.
  • The implementation of a color-coding system and product identifying symbols
